With object storage services becoming increasingly accepted as replacements for traditional file or block systems, it is important to effectively measure the performance of these services, so that people can compare different solutions or tune their systems for optimal performance. Unfortunately, the proliferation of available solutions and the complexity of each individual one, coupled with a lack of dedicated workload, makes it very challenging for one to obtain insights into these novel systems.
To help address this problem, qing has developed a benchmark tool, named Cloud Object Storage Benchmark (COSBench), with the goal of facilitating both performance comparison and system optimization with regard to various object storage systems. This work was performed in Intel Asia-Pacific where he was an intern at its Cloud Infrastructure Technology Team (CIT). COSBench has been both published at ACM ICPE 2013 and open sourced at Github. The above picture was shot at the 2013 ICPE conference, which took place at Prague, Czech Republic. You are welcomed to find more information regarding this benchmark tool at our project page.
